MISSION STATEMENT
To ensure the appropriate use of radiation in medicine in all Arab countries.
ArabSafe is committed to support the Bonn Call for Action published by the International Atomic Energy Agency ( IAEA) and the World Health Organization ( WHO) through the following objectives:
1. Promote the use of Imaging referral guidelines in Arab countries.
(adhering to Action no 1: Enhance the implementation of the principle of justification)
2. Promote safer pediatric imaging in Arab countries.
(adhering to Action no 1: Enhance the implementation of the principle of justification)
3. Establish diagnostic reference levels ( DRLs) for all imaging procedures at a local and national levels.
(adhering to Action no 2: Enhance the implementation of the principle of optimization of protection and safety)
4. Involve the industry in setting the standards for safety and reducing exposure parameters.
(adhering to Action no 3: Strengthen manufacturers' role in contributing to the overall safety regime)
5. Organize radiation protection training courses for healthcare workers and medical practitioners to promote a radiation safe culture.
(adhering to Action no 4: Strengthen radiation protection education and training of health professionals)
6. Educate the general public in the Arab countries about safety in diagnostic imaging.
